21A – Reading Reflection No. 2

  • The general theme Mindset by Carol Dweck was that everything that we do in our day-to-day life all comes from our mindset. Sometimes we are too busy to focus on the small things that we tend to do on a daily basis, but simple things here are there is what makes up out life. In this book we see how the mindset works and how it is the view of your qualities and characteristics that shape our lives.
  • While reading this book I can say I remembered a lot of the things we learned for ENT3003. This book talked a lot about what we do and our actions. While reading this all I could think about was how our mindset influences our ideas and how we want to develop ideas, which is something we talked about in this class.
  • If I had to design an exercise for this class based on what I read is that I would show a group of people a picture of an object. When I show them this, I would go around an see what everyone thought about that one object and we can see smilier and differences between people and how their mindset works.
  • The biggest surprise in this book was that there are good and bad mindsets. We don’t notice how a person can think so differently compare to you because we tend to hang out with people that think the same way or like similar things. But in this book we can see how everyone has a different mindset.

20A – Growing Your Social Capital

A.
  1. Mary Katherine I met her my freshman year here at the University of Florida.
  2. She is filling out the domain expert in my industry.
  3. Mary Katherine was my roommate from last year. Her and I have been working on this project for a month now and we are both excited about the outcome.
  4. We both came up with this idea so we are working together and we both have different roles in order to make this product a good one.
  5. This person will help me a lot because we both have the same mindset for this idea and we are both helping each other out.

B.
  1. My dad.
  2. He is filling out the expert on the market.
  3. I told my family about my idea about this product and my dad was really invested in this and he wants to help me pursue this or help me find people that can help me to make this possible.
  4. He helped me a lot he gave me a lot of good ideas for the app and how we can reach out to people in order to make this app available.
  5. My dad has helped us a lot and has given us good idea that we didn’t think about before. He gives us different input that is useful in the long run.

C.
  1. One of Innovation Academy teachers.
  2. He is filling out the supplier to my industry.
  3. I emailed him and told him about my product and he was one of the first people to hear about this idea so I wanted to update him with what he have had so far.
  4. We talked about how this was just an idea and how it can actually become something and he is really excited.
  5. He can help us out and since he lives in Gainesville he is more aware of the restaurants and healthy food shops that we have use for the app.

This experience shaped how I look at networking because I realized that there are so many ways to make connections if you reach out to the right people. I have never really had any networking experience, but the ones I have had have been very helpful.

19A – Idea Napkin No. 2

  1. I am Costanza Tremante I was born in Venezuela and was raised in Miami. I love to do community service and give back to my community as much as I can. In the future wherever I am I always want to help people around me and in some ways make their life easier. I want to create an app that will help students exercise more, eat healthier, and save money.
  2. In Gainesville there is a large percentage rate on obesity. There are many people who eat unhealthy and don’t go to the gym as often. I am offering customers the ability to be fit and healthy while at the same time saving money. This will help people spend money while trying to be healthy. This app will make you earn points whenever you’re exercising and with those points you can buy discounts for healthy restaurants or food markets.
  3. I am offering to every student in UF. UF has a large percentage of people that are obese and I will like to help those people who need it and would want to do something to help themselves. Also for the people that are constantly exercising and eating healthy these this is an app that can help them be more healthier and fit. Also in the long run I would like to create this app and expanded more in the Gainesville area and maybe in the future do it nationally.
  4. Customers will actually pay for this, because this is something that in the long run will help them and it is something that it is beneficial for their day-to-day lives. The app will make them use less money, exercise more, and eat healthier.
  5. Even though there are apps out there that may do the same thing as this app that I am proposing, the only difference is that this app will be partner up with healthy restaurants and food markets. This way the customers earns points whenever they exercise and then they can purchase any discounts on healthy foods.

I do believe that these elements fit together. Especially for the idea I am proposing I believe that all of these elements tie together and will help the idea be a stronger one. I believe those elements are important to always answer, especially when it comes to proposing a new idea that you have to sell to other people.

The Feedback that I got was very helpful because they two people that commented liked the idea that this app will help decrease the rate of obesity. It is something to always look out for because even though we are not affected by it, there are other people that might go through a hard time with this. The comments also gave me the idea to bring the app into a larger scale. Before I was thinking got starting locally in UF, but maybe in the future seeing how the app will help other people it can be for the area of Gainesville or other states.

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

My prototypical customer is someone who wants to eat healthy, is active, and likes saving money. They like to workout in the gym, run 5 miles, and loves dancing. She is a neuroscience major here at UF and she walks to school everyday. She loves watching TED talks, coffee, and kale. She is currently 21 years old and is graduating soon. She is a very studious person, but also likes to have fun. She has a volvo and no children at the moment.

The avatar and I have a few things in common. We both are people who study a lot, but also enjoy having fun and spending time with friends. Even though I don’t go to the gym as often, I do like dancing. I don’t think this is a coincidence, I think we are very different people that like similar things.

16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

1. Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.
  1. Organize: I think I am a very organized person, I tend to have everything in place and in order.
  2. Responsible: I like being on top of things and making sure all tasks get done.
  3. Passionate: Whenever I do something I tend to put in my all. I also enjoy doing things that I like rather than doing something that I know will bring me down.
  4. Honest: I am straightforward about things once they are asked. I don’t like lying or being ambiguous. I think this is something that everyone should have for any type of relationships.
  5. Open-minded: I try to be open minded about things and willing to consider new ideas and be unbiased.

  1. Interview the five people who know you the best.
    1. Kelly: My friend Kelly said that I am a person that is willing to drop anything to help someone (friend, family, anyone). She also said that I always try to be positive and make others happy no matter the situation and that I am open to a lot of things.
    2. Valentina: My friend Valentina said that she likes that I have the ability to see the goodness in everyone. That I always find something good about a person rather than the bad.
    3. Karen; My roommate Karen said that one thing that she’s sees inmate that it stands out is my charisma. Also how I try to be positive about things no matter what.
    4. Sofia: My friends Sofia said that I am very eclectic and genuine. That I am very diverse and I am ver open minded and that with whatever I do I am real and sincere.
    5. Manny: My friend Manny said that I am a very caring and forgiving person. I never hold a grudge even if the situation/problem was bad. And no matter what I will care for them.
3. Reflect on the differences. I think my friends responses were somewhat similar to how I described myself. The one difference is that in the interviews they kept saying that I am very caring and I didn’t put that one on my list. I think the interviewees were correct about me. If I had to change it, I would add more about how I care about other people and I try to help them in whatever I can.

15A – Figuring Out Buyer

In all the interviews that I had they all really like the idea of having an app in which it will motivate them to go to the gym, eating healthy, and saving money. They believe it is a good idea to have an app that you will be earning points in which you will then use those point to by healthy food for a cheaper cost. They also had the doubt in how does this app distinguish from the other gym apps. This app will be partner with healthy food restaurant and supermarkets. This is for people that need to exercise and also save money. In all the interviews every person thought it was interesting and they would definitively download the app if it where to come out.
The customers would want this app to be customize to whatever they are doing and what they like. If they like to run instead of going to the gym, the app will be specialized to what the customer does. It will also be based on what the eat and where they like to eat. The app will be design  to give them a variety of different  options but also more options to the restaurant that they like. For this segment they will be most likely be download online. Since it is a segment of people that like to exercise  and eat healthy, but don’t have the time or money to do so. What matters on the rightness of the purchase is that the customers are happy with the results of the app. They want to see results if they were able to gain points and actually use them.

I really liked having these interviews, I think i learned a lot about each person and what they are looking forward in the app. Also now I think the app can be more personalized to the customer which is better and the whole point of this project.

14A – Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
Some behaviors that I have used to keep up with the requirements for this course is that I have managed my time well and thought about every assignment in detail.

2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
Some times I can get overwhelmed with all the assignments that are due, but I try to them throughout the week so it is not as overwhelming. What pulled me through is that I want to get good grades and learn about this class.

3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset’ ?
Some tips that I offer the next semester student is that to set down your goals and to never give up.
To always keep in track what you have to do ( have a planner of things that you have to get done)
And always give yourself enough time to do the assignments,  don't procrastinate.

30A – Final Reflection

Overall, I have had a good experience with this class.   A lot  of the assignments I felt like they were very meaningful and others were sor...
